🎙️ Podcasts Ep. 7 & 8: Understand ZK and learn how to design great Web3 products
Our podcast just dropped another episode; this time, we'll be exploring the privacy-preserving characteristics of zero-knowledge proofs.
This family of cryptographic proofs is fundamental to the building of Web3 solutions, and although this may all sound "cryptic" for now, you can be sure that Aleph Zero's very own Damian Straszak will break down these heady concepts into easily digestible pieces. He will also share insights into Shielder, the first privacy solution on Aleph Zero!
Additionally, we'd like to invite all of you to check out last week's episode on product design featuring Aleph Zero's very own Product Design Lead, Mateusz Bryk, in which he dives into the research behind Web3 products and shares insights from his day-to-day work and gives you a behind the scenes look into how he designed the Aleph Zero brand.
Enjoy!

🛡️Aleph Zero Bug Bounty Program Updated
The Aleph Zero bug bounty program has been updated in collaboration with Immunefi. As part of our ongoing commitment to the network’s security, we've introduced new guidelines, rewards, and scope to ensure the robustness of the platform.
Key Highlights:
👉 Revised Scope: we've defined clear in-scope and out-of-scope assets and impacts to guide our white hat community. The scope now includes AlephBFT and Aleph Node repositories.
👉 Proof of Concept Requirement: a PoC is now mandatory for all Blockchain/DLT-related bug report submissions.
👉 Known Issue Assurance: Aleph Zero commits to providing assurance on known issues to streamline the submission process.
👉 Rewards in Multiple Currencies: earn rewards of up to $50,000 in USDT, USDC, and AZERO based on the severity of the vulnerability.
We encourage security researchers and our community to participate and contribute to maintaining the highest security standards on the network.
Together, let's make Aleph Zero even more secure for everyone! 🛡️

🚀 AZERO on-ramp is now available on banxa.com
In an effort to provide a variety of on- and off-ramp services to users of Aleph Zero, we’re happy to announce that Banxa has successfully integrated AZERO into their platform.
AZERO, the Aleph Zero’s native coin, is now available for purchase with multiple currencies on Banxa.com.
This broadens the offering for onboarding new users to Aleph Zero as we remain committed to making AZERO as accessible as it can be.
What is Banxa?
Banxa is a leading provider of Web3 onboarding platform, with a wide array of payment methods to acquire dozens of cryptocurrencies.
The solution can be integrated with external applications which makes it an interesting feature for projects building on Aleph Zero that aim for attracting users that are not native to the network. With this integration, they can quickly buy AZERO and continue their journey within the app.
This adds a variety of choice as AZERO on-ramp, making Banxa our second such service, next to C14.

🗒️ Week 29: Mainnet 11.3, Signer code freeze, new projects in the ecosystem
Over the last weeks, we’ve been busy with the Mainnet 11.3 release, but we’re happy to say that it’s now out there! The benefits include even faster block finalization times, among other improvements.
The Aleph Zero Signer has reached the code freeze status. This means its current version is going to be released on the web stores—we’re awaiting store reviews at the moment before the extension can be published.
Our core team members, Filip and Piotr, had an opportunity to teach ink! at the Polkadot Blockchain Academy organized in collaboration with UC Berkeley, contributing to raising awareness around Aleph Zero’s programming language and educating the next wave of developers that will be using it.
In case you’ve missed the respective announcements, three new projects joined the EFP recently.
Starlay Finance – the largest lending protocol in the Polkadot ecosystem is coming to Aleph Zero after an unanimous governance vote.
Nightly Wallet – the multichain wallet added Aleph Zero support to the likes of Solana, Aptos, Near, and many other networks.
Polkasafe – Polkasafe adds a seamless, non-custodial experience of using multisig.
Stay tuned for more announcements next week!
P.S. If you’ve ordered Tangem wallet, its latest update brought the support for AZERO live!

🚀 Mainnet 11.3 and Aleph Wallet 8.6: network stability and UI improvements
We’re happy to announce that the Mainnet 11.3 update has just been released, together with an updated version of the azero.dev wallet.
We kindly ask all validators and node operators to perform the update at the earliest time possible–the procedure is the same as usual, and you’ll find more information on that in the Validators Announcements channel on Discord.
The scope of this release is:
Committee split
The committee that is producing blocks has been split into one for creating blocks and another for finalizing them. That will speed up the process moderately and make it more resilient.
Justification synchronization mechanism
We rewrote the justification synchronization mechanism as the first part of the wide-ranging sync rewrite to increase the network’s stability. You can see the effect of justifications being disseminated quicker in the azero.dev wallet–the time between a block being produced and getting a green checkmark (which means it got finalized) is now much shorter than before.
In azero.dev, the changes lie in further UI improvements and multisig support.
Thank you for the ongoing support!

🗒️ Week 28: Last stage for Signer, Abax redesign, team at ethCC
The Aleph Zero Signer will be released in the next two weeks! After changes required by the security audit and adjustments needed to release Signer on Chrome Web Store, we’re in the very last stage of its development. Only a few changes are in between us and the official release, so stay tuned!
In the ecosystem, Abax released a refreshed branding, which marks the route to being available on Testnet. Starlay Finance, the largest lending protocol in the Polkadot ecosystem, is conducting a governance vote to integrate with Aleph Zero, ending on July 22nd.
And if you look at the previous announcement–yes, Aleph Zero is finally verified on CoinMarketCap! 🎉
Lastly, we’re at ethCC, one of the biggest blockchain events in Europe, where Damian Straszak gave a talk on “Private and permissionless systems without black hats” and joined ParisDOT with “Safe, fun, and efficient: smart contracts in ink!” where he introduced the audience to the programming language of Aleph Zero.
PS. Testnet 11.3 is running smoothly, looking to release Mainnet 11.3 next week!

🗒️ Week 26: Ledger app, 1,000 domains minted on AZERO.ID testnet, public AMM DEX in late stages
Last week, we welcomed the official release of Ledger app brought to you by Aleph Zero’s ecosystem partner, Zondax. SubWallet already integrated Ledger with their wallet, so that you can experience an elevated user experience while raising the level of security for your assets. Meanwhile, AZERO.ID, the ecosystem’s domain system, saw 1,000+ domains minted on their testnet implementation. It’s a significant milestone!
The core team will be also releasing the Mainnet 11.1 with much-improved justification times and doing the final touches before the public AMM DEX that we’re working on can be audited by Kudelski Security.

💻 Week 23 update: Liminal optimization, 5 new projects in the EFP
Generating ZK proofs is usually computation-heavy. Last week, we've managed to employ parallelism to shorten the in-browser proof generation times by a factor of four. This is a great milestone towards making a seamless user experience of Liminal.
We have also signed agreements with five new projects in the EFP! Announcements are coming soon, after the projects reach their first milestones.

👏 AZERO.ID closes oversubscribed pre-seed round to build first-ever private domain system 👏
With the rebranding announcement of AZERO Domains to AZERO.ID, the team has also announced completing an oversubscribed pre-seed round with contributions from Aleph Zero, Parity Technologies, and Web3 Foundation. Additionally, Aleph Zero stakeholders such as Block54 Capital, nxGen, or Rana Capital joined, among others. AZERO.ID is one of the first use cases to have received a grant from the Aleph Zero Foundation under the Ecosystem Funding Program.
AZERO.ID will become the first-ever private domain system on a blockchain platform. By utilizing Liminal, the team plans to introduce private domain-to-domain asset transfers, ensuring wallet balances and activities remain confidential. This comes together with an improved experience of interacting with blockchain through simpler domains, rather than long wallet address strings. Moreover, AZERO.ID will support multijurisdictional compliance requirements via its partnership with Gatenox, another Aleph Zero ecosystem product.
To learn more about AZERO.ID, head over to their new website.
And if you have other questions, tune in to a Twitter Space with AZERO.ID team today at 2 pm UTC!
P.S.: Can you spot the Easter Egg on AZERO.ID new website?

🦾 Ledger enables developer mode support for AZERO 🦾
Dear everyone,
We have some exhilarating news for all the AZERO enthusiasts out there! As of today, Ledger, the leading hardware wallet company, supports Aleph Zero’s native coin, AZERO, in developer mode. This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to increase the accessibility and security of AZERO coin management for our users.
This exciting development would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of Zondax, the software firm responsible for the integration. The Aleph Zero team would like to express our gratitude to Zondax for their expertise and commitment to bringing this milestone to fruition.
Please note that this integration is currently available only in developer mode, as the official release is pending a security audit and Ledger’s acceptance before being admitted to Ledger’s public release. A security audit will ensure that the AZERO coin integration meets the highest standards of security and reliability. Once the audit results are released and any necessary modifications are made, we expect the integration to be available to the general public.
To access the AZERO coin integration in developer mode, users must have a Ledger device (either a Ledger Nano S or Ledger Nano X) and follow the instructions provided on Ledger’s website. While this mode is intended for developers and advanced users, it offers a great opportunity for our community members to familiarize themselves with the process and share their feedback to help us further refine the integration.
Stay tuned for more updates on the official release, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or feedback regarding the AZERO coin and Ledger integration. Together, we will continue to build a more secure and decentralized future.

🤝 EDX to deploy regulated securities exchange, security token standard on Aleph Zero 🤝
European DLT Exchange (EDX, edx.finance), a wholly-owned subsidiary of 21finance AG, joins forces with Aleph Zero Foundation and Cardinal Cryptography to realize a high performance multichain setup with privacy features for EDX, while bolstering the regulated DeFi ecosystem on Aleph Zero.
"The specific features of Aleph Zero, such as privacy, security, and instant finality, make the network an ideal DLT for what we’re looking to accomplish", says Max Heinzle, founder and CEO of 21finance AG, and adds: "We’ll be working together to provide necessary building blocks for a privacy-preserving, regulated DeFi ecosystem on Aleph Zero in general."
EDX itself is led by Francesco Adiliberti, former Managing Director at Goldman Sachs International, HSBC, and Amber Group. Francesco has also successfully operated and exited Nomisma, the first company in Europe that was granted a license by the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority to allow trading of tokenized financial instruments, in particular derivatives, on a blockchain. Francesco holds a PhD in finance from the University of Zurich.
The first objective of the collaboration is to bring EDX to Aleph Zero to explore the network’s capabilities in a regulatory-driven market while boosting the overall privacy features of EDX across multiple networks.
The second goal is to deploy a regulatory-driven token standard to the Aleph Zero ecosystem to help stimulate the regulated DeFi ecosystem of the network.

💫 March 2023 summary: smart contracts live on the mainnet, community validators ‘flippening’ and more! 💫
March brought the highly anticipated smart contracts to the Mainnet but that was not the only highlight happening in Aleph Zero!
We have reached over 50,000 accounts on the mainnet, as well as completed a milestone towards decentralization with transitioning to over 50% of total staked assets in the hands of community validators.
We also took plenty of speaking and networking opportunities at both online and offline events.

💻 Say hello to the Dashboard! 💻
We have just released a new interface that will make it easier to manage your staked AZERO. Read on about its features and how it improves the staking UX.
The main benefit of the new staking dashboard is that it is oriented toward the end user. The azero.dev platform is a feature-heavy tool for developers, but for average users, we wanted to create a simple and intuitive experience that allows them to do all the necessary account actions as efficiently as possible. The introduction of the new dashboard for staking brings about a much clearer UX that should make it easier for everyone to get started staking and managing their AZERO.

💥 Join the ink!ubator and grow your blockchain project! 💥
Aleph Zero has joined an initiative to kickstart the growth of the ink! ecosystem together with Astar Network, Web3 Foundation, Parity Technologies, Phala Network, and 727 Ventures.
After a successful ink! 4.0 WASM Mainnet smart contracts release, it’s time to enable builders to get out more of this technology. While getting all set to support all the Aleph Zero projects via our own Ecosystem Funding Program, today we’re happy to co-announce yet another program.
ink!ubator is funded by the Web3 Foundation to support the growth of ink!-based ecosystems such as Aleph Zero, Astar Network, Phala Network, Polkadot, Kusama, and others. It focuses on a few key areas: developer growth, security audits, full-stack tooling, as well as high-impact product launches.
The initiative provides three tracks for builders, which you can learn about here.
